The short version
In a chakra balancing session you lie clothed on my table for 60 to 90 minutes while I place crystals, use essential oils, speak affirmations and play sound. An oracle reading is a seated conversation around a card spread, 30 or 60 minutes long. Both are for reflection and rest, and neither one is medical care, therapy or prediction.
That’s the whole thing. The rest of this is what each part looks like, who tends to book it, and where I draw the lines.
What chakras are, as I use them
The chakras are a map of seven areas along the body, from the base of the spine to the top of the head, with a set of themes people have attached to each one over a very long time. Root: safety, money, home. Heart: grief and connection. Throat: saying what you mean. And so on up the line.
I use it as language, not anatomy. There’s no organ called a chakra, and I won’t tell you there is. What the map gives us is a way to talk about where you feel stuck that’s more useful than “everywhere.”
Energy work sits in the same family as Reiki, and the NCCIH is clear that Reiki hasn’t been shown to be effective for any health condition (NCCIH). I’d say the same about what I do. What the research does support is that relaxation practices and meditation can help with stress and with feeling calmer (NCCIH). That’s what this is, in plain terms: an hour of guided rest with sound, scent and light touch.
A chakra balancing session
We start with a short talk and a chakra check-in. You tell me where you feel tense, flat or fine. I pass my hands a few inches above each center and tell you what I notice. That decides where the session spends most of its time.
Then you lie down, clothed, under a blanket. I place a crystal at each of the seven centers and work through them one at a time. There are essential oils, so tell me about scent sensitivities or pregnancy and I’ll swap them. There are spoken affirmations you can repeat quietly or just hear. There are light hands-on holds, though this isn’t a massage. Bowls and chimes close it out, and before you go I tell you what I found.
Sessions run 60, 75 or 90 minutes. Sixty is a full session. Ninety gives more time with sound at the end. If the sound is the part you’re drawn to, a Sound Meditation on its own is a simpler place to start, and many clients book that first.
An oracle reading
An oracle reading is two chairs and a deck of cards. You bring a question, or you don’t. “What do I need to see right now?” is plenty. I shuffle and draw. In 30 minutes it’s a few cards on one question. In 60 it’s a full spread across different parts of your life, with time to talk each one through.
The cards are prompts. I read the images and the themes, and we have a conversation. Most of the value is in that conversation, and clients usually say they leave clearer about something they already knew. You take a photo of the spread home and a couple of things to sit with.
Now and then something comes through that feels like more than the cards: a name, an image, a feeling that seems to belong to someone else. I’ll mention it lightly, you can take it or leave it, and we move on. I don’t build sessions around it, and I don’t read on other people without their consent. Lengths and what each includes are on the oracle readings page.
Who books this
People in a transition: a new job, a move, a relationship ending, a loss. People who feel scattered or flat and can’t find a physical reason for it. Clients who already see me for massage and want a session that’s quieter, or one that’s just talking. And a fair number of people who are curious and a little skeptical, which is fine by me. You don’t have to believe anything to lie down for an hour.
What it isn’t
Once, plainly. This is not medical care. It doesn’t treat, cure or diagnose anything, and if you have symptoms, see your doctor. It is not therapy. I’m not a mental health professional, and if that’s what you need I’ll say so and help you find someone. And a reading is not prediction. I won’t tell you your future, because I don’t know it, and I’d be wary of anyone who says they do.
Pairing it with the Resonance Ritual
My studio shares a suite with Stillness & Aesthetics Co. Their Sound Lounge sends vibration through your body from a lounger, which is a different feeling from live bowls in the room. The 30-minute Resonance Ritual is an easy add before a chakra session or a reading, and clients who want a longer rest book both. Details are on the Stillness page, and current prices for everything here are on pricing.
Questions people ask
Do I have to believe in chakras for it to work?
No. Treat it as an hour of guided rest with sound and touch. The framework is a map for the conversation, not a requirement.
Will you tell me my future?
No. The cards are prompts for reflection, and what you do with them is up to you. I’m careful not to dress that up as anything more.
Is this a religious thing?
Not with me. It borrows from several traditions, but you don’t need any belief to lie down and rest for an hour. Come curious and see how it feels.
